Miqdad ibn Amr al-Bahráni - Married to Rasulullah's cousin.

Miqdad ibn Amr al-Bahráni (Arabic: هرائي البعمرو بن مقداد ‎) was one of the Sahabah Rasulullah SAW. Also known as Miqdad ibn  Al Aswad RA is among Muslims was regarded as one of the most respected Sahabah. Miqdad ibn Al Aswad RA was one of the Muhajirun.

Miqdad ibn Al Aswad RA belonged to an Arabian tribe named Bahra originally from Hadhramaut Yemen. Miqdad ibn Al Aswad RA escaped from his tribe after injuring someone and inhabited Mecca. In Mecca, Miqdad ibn Al Aswad RA belonged to a man named al-Aswad Al Kindi. Miqdad ibn Al Aswad RA was a very brave young man when he went to Mecca. In Arabia people loved brave and strong men, Aswad Alkindi did not have any children, So one day he stood amongst all tribes of Quraish and said "I am declaring that from this day on Miqdad as my son, and his name is now Miqdad ibn Al Aswad Alkindi after I die he will inherit me" So, people started calling him Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA, rather than Miqdad ibn Amr. It was a way Arabs showed their love towards someone. Islam rose from the top of the Hira Mount. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA became twenty-four years old. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA heard about Muhammad’s mission. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA hurried to believe in the new religion. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA kept his Islam a secret, and was part of the Muhajirin who fled from the punishments of Quraish. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA met Muhammad secretly. Thus, Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA was among the earlier Muslims. He always felt the Muslims' sufferings.

Immigration to Madinah

Rasulullah SAW ordered his companions to immigrate to Madinah. They immigrated one by one or group by group. After some time, he received orders from Allah to immigrate to Madinah also. When he reached Madinah, Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA rejoiced by seeing him reaching Madinah safely.

Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA was one of the last to migrate to Madinah, when he got there Rasulullah SAW invited him to stay with him.
Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA shared a story of an event that occurred whilst staying with Rasulullah SAW.

"One day we had gone out and we came back, three of us came back to Rasulullah’s house where we were staying. Every day there'll be milk left for us to drink, on that day I was very hungry. So everyone drank their share but I was still very hungry.

Shaytaan came to me, and told me to drink Muhammad’s share too, he kept encouraging me to do it, after I'd done so I was now worried as to what to do. So I pretended to sleep whilst I thought of a plan, but then Rasulullah SAW came in."

When Rasulullah SAW saw someone has drink his milk, he made a dua "O Allah feed the one who feeds me, and quench the thirst of the one who quenches my thirst"

Upon hearing this, Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA got up; he wanted to be the one to feed Rasulullah SAW. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA went to the goat and noticed even though the goat had been milked earlier, the udders were full. He milked the goat till Rasulullah SAW drank to his fill, and al Miqdad drank. It was a miracle from Allah SWT.

Miqdad Ibn AlAswad Al Kindi RA Married to Rasulullah’s cousin.
Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA also had the honor of being related to Rasulullah SAW by marriage. After having trouble getting married, got married to Rasulullah SAW cousin.
But what makes Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA stand out beyond this is of this incident that happened during the Battle of Badr. Rasulullah SAW and the companions never set out for war, prior to the battle of Badr. They had actually set out to recover a caravan of theirs from Abu Sufyan. However,  the Quraish were prepared to fight.

This unexpected turn of events called for an important decision and quick resolve, as the Muslims had not come out to fight.

Rasulullah SAW consulted his Companions, saying “O people give me your counsel.”
Saidina Abu Bakr RA stood and spoke well, and then Saidina Umar Ibn Al-Khattab RA stood and spoke well. Rasulullah SAW then repeated his request, saying, “O people give me your counsel.”

This is when Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA came forth, and he was the only Companion who was riding a horse at the time.

Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA loyalty towards Rasulullah SAW could be seen at the battle of Badr, when Miqdad ibn Aswad Al-Kindi stood up then said: “O Rasulullah, execute that (plan) which Allah has shown to you, for we are with you. By Allah, we will not say to you as the children of Israel said to Musa: "So go you and your Lord and fight you two, we are sitting right here.” Instead, we say to you, 'go you and your Lord and fight: we are with you and will fight.’ And by the One who sent you with the truth, if you led us to Birkul-Ghimad (a place on the outlying regions of Yemen) - we would fight alongside with you against those who come before it (and there were many tribes separating Al Madinah and Birkul-Ghimad), until you reached it. And we will indeed fight at your right and from your left, and from before you, and from behind you - until Allah makes you victorious.“

Happy expression appeared on Rasulullah SAW face. Then Rasulullah SAW said to the Ansar: "What shall I do"?

Saad ibn Maadh answered: "Rasulullah, we've believed in you, we've believed you. We've confessed to what to have said as the truth. We've promised to hear and obey! Then, Rasulullah SAW, go on what you've wanted! By Allah! If you asked us to cross the Red Sea, we would do"!

It was the first battle against the unbelievers; it was named the battle of Badr, when the tribes of Quraish came out to fight Rasulullah SAW 1400 against 313 followers of Rasulullah. The Muslims were full of enthusiasm. They got ready to face the polytheists with hearts filled with faith.

The polytheists tried to kill Rasulullah SAW to destroy Islam totally. But the sincere companions such as Ali bin Abi Talib, al-Miqdad, Al-Zubair, Musa’ab ibn `Umair, Abu Dujana al-Ansari, Sahal bin Hunaif, and others resisted the polytheists bravely. They defended Rasulullah SAW against them.

Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA deeply believed in Allah and teachings of Rasulullah SAW. One day, Rasulullah SAW said: "Allah has ordered me to love four (persons), and He has told me that He loves them. The persons are Ali, al-Miqdad, Abu Dharr al-Ghiffari, and Salman al Farisi."

On another occasion long after the demised of Rasulullah SAW, it is reported that a man met Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA, and said I’d love to look into your eyes because you were able to see Rasulullah SAW. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA replied, said Thank Allah that you are a Muslim today! because if you were there at the time of Rasulullah SAW just to see him, there were so many people who saw him and are now in Jahannam. So don't wish you were from amongst those who saw him, because you don't know if you saw him which side you'd have been on."

Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA taught people the Qur'an. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA reading became famous all over Damascus. Miqdad ibn Aswad al-Kindi RA stayed loyal to Allah and Muhammad and died at the age of ninety.

Uthman replied, 'That is my opinion.' Whereupon Ali got angry and went out saying, 'I am at your service, O Allah; I am at your service for a hajj and an umrah together.' " Malik said, "Our position (here in Madinah) is that someone who does hajj and umrah together should not remove any of his hair, nor should he come out of ihram in any way until he has sacrificed an animal, if he has one.
