Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه

One of the companions included from Khilafah Rasyidin is Saiyidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq رضي الله عنه. It is known that Saiyidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq رضي الله عنه. had a slave whom he freed named Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه.

The truth is that the religion of Islam has raised the status of a person Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه. From a slave, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was honored with his degree and became a hafiz or someone who memorized the Qur'an.

One of the lucky people who joined Islam was Tufayl bin Abdullah's رضي الله عنهblack slave, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه. Tufayl was Saidatuna Aisha’s رضي الله عنهhalf-brother. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه became a Muslim when Rasulullah was in Arqam's house.

Until the time when Rasulullah and Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه were migrating to Madinah and hid in Tsur Cave for three days to avoid the pursuit of the Quraysh. During those three days, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه herded the goats as usual with other shepherds.

But when he came home, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was late until the day started to get dark. He then took the goats to Gua Tsur, so that Rasulullah and Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه could drink their milk. In the morning, it turned out that Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was already in the pasture with other shepherds, so the Quraysh infidels did not at all suspect what he had done.

Likewise, as a Hafiz Al-Qur'an, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was chosen by Rasulullah to be one of the 70 companions sent to Bani Amir in Najd to prosecute them. However, this group of da'wah companions was betrayed and suffered the tragedy of the massacre in Bi'r Ma'unah.

At the moment the spear had pierced his body, in a state of incalculable pain, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه said, "By God, I have succeeded..."

Not long after, his body drooped and collapsed, but suddenly his body was lifted up into the sky. This incident was even witnessed directly by his killer, Jabbar bin Salma, and Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه's words about the miraculous event always echoed.

A few days later, he got an explanation that the "success" in question was heaven. On that basis, Jabbar bin Salma finally embraced Islam because of the unexpected event It really became an additional glory for Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه, because of his martyrdom which then brought guidance to others. However, in another narration, it is mentioned that the companion speared by Jabbar was Haram bin Milhan رضي الله عنه,

Wallahu A'lam Bishawab.

It was a period when the most terrifying form of ignorance and oppression prevailed, and torture and brutality were committed most terribly. At that time, helpless and weak people were enslaved; they were forced to work in jobs that even animals were not forced. It was the Era of Jahiliyya, when wealthy, noble, and cruel people shed blood and when frightening clouds dominated the sky.

True religion came to help people when they were hit by all kinds of misfortunes. The cloud of mercy dominated the sky and the sun of compassion rose. People ran to the light that this sun radiated. The majority of those who ran to that light consisted of the oppressed, despised, repressed, and weak people and the slaves. These poor people took refuge in the compassion of Islam. They saw that they were also human beings and that they also had some rights.

The polytheists who heard that Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه, became a Muslim found another victim for themselves. The increase in the number of those who gathered around  Rasulullah infuriated them. At that time, Saidina Bilal رضي الله عنه also believed. Saidina Bilal رضي الله عنه faced a different kind of torture and infliction every day. The polytheists tortured him together with Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه.

One day, they tied a rope around Saidina Bilal رضي الله عنه and Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه and gave the rope to some naughty children. They were dragged into the streets of Makkah. The polytheists inflicted all kinds of torture upon them. However, the torture of the furious polytheists did not affect these lovers of Rasulullahat all; the more the severity of the torture increased, the more their patience and perseverance increased.

Finally, Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه came to the rescue of these two oppressed people. Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه freed them by paying the money necessary for their freedom to their owners. Thus, they virtually received the first reward of their patience in the world; they attained freedom in both the world and the hereafter.

Abu Quhafah could not understand why his son, Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه, freed Muslim slaves by paying money. One day, he called his son and said, "O my Son! I see that you always buy weak slaves and free them. Would not it be better if you bought strong ones so that they would be your protectors and supporters?"

Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه explained his lofty purpose to his father as follows:

"O Dad! I do not want to benefit from them by doing so; I want to attain the consent of Allah."

Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه took part in the Battle of Badr and Uhud. He fought heroically in those battles.

Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was from Ashab as-Suffa. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was one of the Companions who could beautifully read the Quran. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was also among the scribes of Rasulullah.

Another version of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه with regards to his martyrdom.

Four months after the Battle of Uhud, Abu Bara, the leader of the tribe of Sons of Amir living in the region of Najd, came to Rasulullah and asked him to send a few Companions to teach his people about Islam. Abu Bara promised Rasulullah that he would protect the Companions sent to him; thereupon, Rasulullah sent a group of 40, or according to another narration 70, people from Ashab as-Suffa {Ahlul Suffah) as a delegation of guidance. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was a member of this delegation.

When the delegation arrived at the region of Bi'r Mauna (Mauna Well), they stopped over. Abu Bara's nephew, Amir bin Tufayl, did not obey his paternal uncle; and he gathered men from the tribes around and attacked the Companions who were resting there. They martyred 39 Companions.

When the polytheist called Jabbar bin Sulma stuck his sword in Amir bin Fuhayra رضي الله عنه, he heard the phrase "By Allah, I have gained." When Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه became a martyr, he ascended to the sky. When Jabbar heard this phrase and saw the rise of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه to the sky, he asked Ah. Dahhak رضي الله عنه about it. Dahhak رضي الله عنه told him that Amir attained Paradise. When Jabbar saw this, he became a Muslim. Thus, the martyrdom of one person became a means of belief for another person.

The author of the massacre, Amir bin Tufayl, took Amir bin Umayya رضي الله عنه, who survived the massacre and wanted to learn the identities of the martyrs. Amir bin Umayya رضي الله عنه mentioned the names of the martyrs one by one; he said he could not see Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه. Amir bin Tufayl pointed to Jabbar and said, "Shall I inform you about him? That guy stuck his spear into him. After he pulled his spear out, the man rose up to the sky and disappeared. By Allah, I have not seen him again."

When Rasulullah was informed about the state of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه, he said, "The angels raised his body to the sky and buried him."  At that time, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was 40 years old.

Story 1

'Urwah رضي الله عنه narrates that when the people who went to Bir Ma'unah were killed and Amr bin Umayyah al-Dhamri was captured, Amir bin Thufail asked Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه  , "Who is this person?" while pointing to one of the dead. Amr bin Umayyah replied, "This is Amir bin Fujairah رضي الله عنه  ." Amir bin Thufail said, "After he was killed, I saw him lifted up until he was between the heavens and the earth. Then he was placed back on the earth."

The news about them reached Rasulullah, and he announced their death to his companions. Rasulullah  said, "Your friends have fallen and they have prayed to God, 'Our Lord, tell our brothers that we are pleased with You and You are pleased with us.' So the Messenger of God. tell your friends what happened.

(Narrated by Bukhari from the line of Hisham bin `Urwah)

Story 2

Another story from Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه. narrates that Rasulullah sent an army. Not long after, Rasulullah,, praised God, and said, "Your brothers have faced the polytheists and they fell until not even a scar was left. They prayed, ``O God, tell the people of the canoes that we are pleased with -You and You are pleased with us.' I am their messenger to convey this to you. They are pleased and God is pleased with them." (Narrative of Al-Baihaqi)

Story 3

Mundzir bin Amr رضي الله عنه tells the story of the Prophet's messengers who used to teach the Qur'an and Sunnah to their people. In that story, he mentioned that Amir bin Thufail asked Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه, "Do you know your companions?" Amr bin Umayyahرضي الله عنه  replied, "Yes." Then Amir bin Thufail went around the bodies of the fallen martyrs and asked Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه their lineage, then asked, "Did you lose one of them?" Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه replied, 'I am looking for a slave of Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Siddique رضي الله عنه  named Amir bin Fuhairahرضي الله عنه ." Amir bin Thufail asked again, "How is his behavior?" Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه replied, "He is the best person among us."

Amir bin Thufail said, "I will tell you the situation of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنهAmir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was pierced by a spear on the battlefield, then the spear came off by itself. Then Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه body was lifted up to the sky, until, by God, I could not see him again. The one who killed him was a man- a man from the tribe of Kilab named Jabbar bin Salma. When Jabbar managed to stab him, he heard Amir bin Fuhairah say, ``By God, I won.''

Then Mundzir met Dhahhak bin Sufyan al-Kilabi and told the story of Amir bin Fuhairah. Mundzir converted to Islam after learning the story of Amir bin Fuhairah whose funeral was lifted up to heaven and there is no other person like that. Dhahhak wrote a hadith attributed to the Prophet. which stated that the angels buried the body of Amir bin Fahirah and placed him in the highest heaven. (Reported by Al Waqidi on the authority of Mash'ab bin Thabit on the authority of Abdul Aswad on the authority of `Urwah)

According to the narration of Al-Baihaqi, the body of Amir bin Fuhairah may have been lifted to the sky, placed back on the earth, and then disappeared, in line with the narration of Bukhari from the `Urwah line which states that the body of Amir bin Fuhairah was lifted to the sky, then placed back on the earth, and until currently not found. People say that angels have buried him.

Al-Baihaqi also narrated from `Urwah who was connected with `Aishah with the redaction, "After the battle, I saw the body of Amir bin Fuhairah lifted up, between the sky and the earth, until I could not see him anymore." The narration does not say that his body was brought back to earth, and many narrations state that Amir bin Fuhairah was buried in the sky.

Ibnu Sa'ad also narrated from Waqidi from Muhammad bin 'Abdullah from Al-Zuhri, from `Urwah, from Aisyah r.a. that Amir bin Fuhairah ascended to heaven, and his remains were not found. People said that the angels had buried him in the sky.

'Amr bin `Ash

In the book Tuhfat al-Ahbab fi Mazarat Misra, Al-Sakhawy says that there was a man who visited the tomb of Amr bin Ash. At the cemetery, the pilgrim saw a man sitting down, so he asked the man about Amr bin Ash's grave. The seated man gestured with his feet and did not move from his place. Amr bin Ash died in Egypt on the night of 'Idul Fitri in the year 43 H.

Burayda bin Husayb (r.a.)

[For Illustration Only]

During the Migration, Rasulullah came out of Makkah at midnight before the eyes of the polytheists and set off to go to Madinah; this infuriated the polytheists. They wanted to do their best to find Rasulullah and Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه before they arrived in Madinah and killed them. They went into action immediately. They started to look for him by forming many groups. They also promised 100 camels to the person to bring them dead or alive to ensure their capture.

This news reached almost every tribe around Makkah. Everyone wanted to get this reward promised by Quraysh.

This least known of this journey. And his name is Abu Sahal Buraidah ibn al-Husayb. .Burayda bin Husaybرضي الله عنه was one of those bounty hunters. He was the leader of the Sons of Sahm. He took about 80 men with him and started to search for Rasulullah. Finally, he found them near a place called Amini. Rasulullah saw Buraydaرضي الله عنه, and his men coming toward them. However, he did not panic. For, he trusted in  Allah with all his heart. He asked Burayda, "Who are you?" When he received the answer "Burayda", he said to Abu BakrBuraydaرضي الله عنه,, "We have felt relieved." Then, he asked Buraydaرضي الله عنه, about his tribe. BuraydaBuraydaرضي الله عنه, said, "I am from the tribe of Aslam." Rasulullah asked, "From which clan of Aslam?" Burayda answered: "From Sons of Sahm." Rasulullah always interpreted things favorably.

He interpreted his name, his tribe, and the clan he belonged to favorably. He thought they would not harm him. "Burayda" reminded the meaning of coolness and "Aslam" of salvation. Buraydaرضي الله عنه, did not know whom he was talking to. However, he admired his perseverance courage and speech. He wanted to know him and asked him who he was. Rasulullah answered, "I am Muhammad, the son of Abdullah, who was the son of Abdul Muttalib." Then he invited him to become a Muslim. The torch of belief started to burn in the heart of Buraydaرضي الله عنه, and his face started to brighten with the light of belief. He uttered kalima ash-shahada at once and became a Muslim. The people who were with him followed him.

He was neither the first nor the last of those who came to kill Rasulullah but who became believers.

Rasulullah spent the night there. In the morning, Buraydaرضي الله عنه came and said to Rasulullah, "O Messenger of Allah! It is not appropriate for you to enter Madinah without a flag." Then he removed his turban and tied it to the end of his spear. He walked carrying it beside Rasulullah until he entered Madinah. Buraydaرضي الله عنه . remained in Madinah for a while and returned to his hometown.

Buraydaرضي الله عنه migrated to Madinah in the 6th year of the Migration. For this reason, he could not join the battles of Badr, Uhud, and Khandaq. He participated in the Treaty of Hudaybiyya. He was also present in the Pledge of Ridwan. He took part in the conquest of Khaybar and Makkah too. Then, he joined some expeditions under the command of Khalid Al Walid رضي الله عنه .  and Ali Ibn Abu Talib رضي الله عنه. He participated in all of the other battles with Rasulullah.

Buraydaرضي الله عنه . was a Companion with virtues. He obeyed Rasulullah regarding every issue. He had a separate place in the eye of Rasulullah. He could enter into the presence of Rasulullah easily.

Burayda رضي الله عنه . lived in Madinah until the death of Rasulullah. After that, he left Madinah like the other Companions and settled in Basra.

Buraydaرضي الله عنه . said, “Blood of jihad runs through my blood vessels. I will spend my life on horseback." For this reason, he joined the armies of conquest during the Era of the Caliphs. He fought heroically. He died in 63 H. Buraydaرضي الله عنه . narrated 164 hadiths from Rasulullah. Two of these hadiths are as follows:

"Do not say 'master' to hypocrites. For, if they become masters and are regarded to be superior to others, you will attract the wrath of Allah Almighty."

"He who misappropriates, who provokes a woman against her husband and a slave against his master is not one of us."

Abu Sahal Buraidah ibn al-Husayb رضي الله عنه ., or al-Hasib. So Buraidahرضي الله عنه . is the least known of this group, and I want to talk about why I'm talking about him for a moment. How long was Rasulullah in Makkah calling the people to Islam? A decade. Over a decade, right? And it was demoralizing. The public called Rasulullah. It was demoralizing to the Muslims, of course, to be persecuted, to be run out between the Muslims that fled to Abyssinia, the Muslims that were beaten to death in Makkah, the Muslims that were starved to death in the boycott, the Muslims that are now fleeing to Madinah.

Rasulullah leaves Mecca after this decade with not that many followers, right? And on top of that, Ta'if He went to Ta'if Alaihi Wasallam and he didn't find the reception that he was expecting from Rasulullah. And the Rasulullah is still thinking with the heart and mind of da'wah, of calling to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. So as he's going through the desert here and proceeding, and Allah is protecting him from these enemies, Rasulullah is not just thinking about protection, he's still thinking about the message, Rasulullah. He's always wearing that banner of da'wah, Rasulullah. So he has passed through the house of Umm Ma'bad رضي الله عنه .

Rasulullah has escaped, or rather Suraqa رضي الله عنه has escaped Rasulullah in this regard. And Rasulullah is at another point in his journey and they're finally starting to get close to Madinah. Obviously, the exhaustion of the journey, the tiredness of the journey, and SubhanAllah you're at that last stretch and Rasulullah sees a tribe. Now the chief of that tribe has a very imposing presence and it's late at night, it's dark. And this could be it, right?

He found him and after this entire journey, someone's finally going to get that bounty from Rasulullah being taken back to Makkah. So Rasulullahﷺ as this man approaches, you know SubhanAllah the way that you carry yourself, it's not like Suraqa where Rasulullah makes dua against him or things start to happen to him supernaturally. Rasulullah just carries himself in a very interesting way. And Rasulullah before the man can ask him, who are you?

Rasulullah says to him, who are you? And that is a way of actually owning the conversation, right? Because of the pursuit, the one who's running away is going to start to flee in a different place. But if he says, who are you? Then that shows that there's nothing to worry about. So Rasulullah starts the conversation with him and says to him, remember Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه is right next to him. Like this can end at any moment, someone can say, oh you're him? There's my hundred camels. So the man responds and he says, my name is Buraida. My name is Buraidaرضي الله عنه . Now what do you call cold, cool water?

Barat, right? Buraida comes from the same root word. So Rasulullah is asking, what's your name? He says, my name is Buraida. So Rasulullah turns to Abu Bakrرضي الله عنه . Like, look at the way he's owning the conversation Rasulullah. And he says, yeah, Abu Bakrرضي الله عنه. Our affair just got cool and rectified. Right? So he used the play on the name of Buraidaرضي الله عنه and said things are good now. This was the same thing Rasulullah said when he saw Suhayl Ibn Amrرضي الله عنه and he said, Suhayl's name comes from easy.

Our affair just got made easy. Even though Suhaylرضي الله عنه was not an easy negotiator. But Rasulullahﷺ found optimism in all of these things. So look at the way the conversation is proceeding in the middle of the desert. And Rasulullah says, who do you belong to? So SubhanAllah, look at how the conversation has started. Like this man means no harm to us. Alhamdulillah, we're good. Like we're travelers and we found goodness. So Buraidaرضي الله عنه now said, and who are you? He said, I am Muhammad Ibn Abdullah. Rasulullah did not shy away. Rasulullah, I am Muhammad Ibn Abdullah, Rasulullah. And I have come with a message of Islam.

What's Islam? And Rasulullah gives him da'wah in that moment. Think about it now, you've got a desert, you're a fugitive, and you just revealed your identity and you're completely calm, and composed. And now you're telling this message to these people in the middle of the desert. Rasulullah tells them what Islam is. One God, the Lord of the heavens and the earth. And I am his messenger who's receiving divine revelation. And my people have run me out of Makkah and I'm going to another people. And Buraidaرضي الله عنه here's Rasulullah, and Buraidaرضي الله عنه is a simple man. He says to him, how do I embrace your religion? How do I become one of you? So he says, you say, ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammad Rasulullah. He said, ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammad Rasulullah. And Buraida رضي الله عنه says, hold on. And he goes and he talks to his people, 70 people. And he tells them about Islam and all 70 of them follow their chief. So now on the way from Makkah to Madinah, SubhanAllah, Buraida رضي الله عنه.and his people have all become sahaba in a moment.

Meaning subhanAllah, all of Makkah with its pain and its persecution and its trouble from the relatives of Rasulullah. And now you have all of these people who are embracing Islam and captivated by Rasulullah. And they stayed with Rasulullah. They learned the basics of Islam. Rasulullah has a jama'a now in the middle of nowhere of 70 people Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. But again, he was close to Madinah. And Buraidaرضي الله عنه says to Rasulullah, where are you headed? You know, you should stay with us for some time.

Rasulullah explains that he's headed towards Yathrib at the time, which of course becomes Madinah, and that the people are waiting for him in Quba. Buraidaرضي الله عنه takes off his turban and he ties it to the staff of Rasulullah. He said you should enter it with a standard, right? You should enter it with this banner. And Rasulullah takes it and Banu Sahm, this tribe of Buraida رضي الله عنه remains Muslim and they will join Rasulullah sometime after Uhud. So Buraida will join Rasulullah as a companion as well. And this tribe of people Rasulullah in one moment embraces Islam in a way that no group of people in Makkah embraced Islam with all of that da'wah and that trouble, which shows you, Rasulullah, you never stop giving da'wah and you never underestimate the person right in front of you. Never underestimate the moment. Never underestimate the person who's right in front of you and the influence you can have on that person. SubhanAllah, that's 70 people that were saved from the fire in a moment with Rasulullah

And Buraida رضي الله عنه, he goes on to become a person. From the simple conversation of halakafil Islam, do you want to learn about Islam? Buraida رضي الله عنه becomes a confidant to Rasulullah. If you remember, if you go back and you listen to the biography of Juwayriya رضي الله عنه., Buraidaرضي الله عنه was the one who Rasulullah sent to Ban al-Mustaliq to basically ask around and ask what was happening. Why? Because Buraidaرضي الله عنهwas not known to the people of Makkah, nor was he known to the people of Madinah, and he wasn't known to Ban al-Mustaliq, so he was the perfect spy.

So he just went around to Ban al-Mustaliq and he asked, you know, what's going on here? And he learned as a spy that they were going to attack Rasulullah. They were planning to launch a surprise attack on Rasulullah. So he becomes a trusted confidant of Rasulullah. His being anonymous actually suits the mission that he would be given.

He goes on to become a great mujahid to fight in multiple battles, and he is one of the people, who is subhanAllah so beautiful, he's one of the people that Rasulullah allowed to be a flag bearer on the day of Fatih Makkah, on the day of the conquest of Makkah. So you got people like Talha رضي الله عنه and these lofty companions from Makkah coming back, and then you have this unknown man from the desert, Buraidah رضي الله عنه, walking proudly in front of the army alongside Rasulullah. And by the way, he also goes on to become a narrator of hadith, and so some of the hadith from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari رضي الله عنه that we mentioned were narrated by Buraidah رضي الله عنه

Buraidah رضي الله عنه.narrates about 30 to 40 hadith from his own رضي الله عنه on behalf of Rasulullah Buraidah رضي الله عنه. was one of those who went to Tabuk, and the rest is history. And subhanAllah, we learn through his story another type of profile, the person who you look past. One of the messages that Allah Azawajal gave Rasulullah was to not look past people. You don't look past people.

Rasulullah could have easily seen this man as a nobody in the middle of the desert that he just needs to be from. But instead, he goes on to become a great companion of Rasulullah, and his people are saved from the fire as well. So just to recap on this journey of the hijrah of Rasulullah, it started off with Rasulullah leaving Ali ibn Abi Talib رضي الله عنه  in his bed, and the humiliation of the mushrikeen. And Rasulullah, accompanied by Abu Bakr al-Siddiq رضي الله عنه , Amr ibn Fuhayrah رضي الله عنه , and Abdullah ibn Urayqat رضي الله عنه

And by the time Rasulullah got to Madinah, he had a miracle that was performed in the house of Umm Abad رضي الله عنه . He had a prophecy of the most powerful man in the world, the most powerful kingdom coming into or under al-Islam, and he had a tribe larger than any tribe that would have embraced him in Makkah in a moment, in the middle of nowhere, before he gets to Madinah. Rasulullah

And then he enters into Quba' alayhis salatu was-salam. In each one of these incidents, there's a great lesson, and Buraidah رضي الله عنه would go on to pass away as well, as a Muslim, and is buried in al-Madinah. Allah. with all of the companions of RasulullahAllah. allow us to be amongst those who are received by Rasulullah

at his hell, and that can behold him with that description of Umm Abad رضي الله عنه , and that can be given the Bushra by him, the way he gave the Bushra to Suraqah رضي الله عنه , and that can be by his side and enter into Jannah in his ranks, the way that Buraidah رضي الله عنه entered with his ranks into Makkah. Allahumma ameen. you
