Abdullah bin Busra

Abdullah Bin Busyr Al-Aslami رضي الله عنه, while his nickname is Abu Shafwan or Abu Busrin.

He was one of the first to convert to Islam because he had the experience of praying to two qiblas, the first being the Qibla of Baitul Maqdis and the second being the Kaaba in Makkah. Of course, he can follow the footsteps of  Rasulullahﷺ m, wherever he is, both in the city and outside the city, both in peace and in war. He was said by Hafizh Ibnu Hajar, "He was a small friend, that is still a child, he and his parents were friends." Ibnu Atsir explained that he was a companion of Rasulullah, as well as his parents, a brother named Athiah, and a sister named Rasulullahﷺ  Suamma'. He has a big tattoo on his face. He received the honor of Rasulullahﷺ  when one-day Rasulullahﷺ  placed his noble hand on Abdullah's head and prayed for him, then he said, "This child will live (long life) until a century." And he continued, "He will not die until the mole first disappears from his face."

Thus Abdullah bin Busr رضي الله عنه lived a long life until he reached a hundred years. Al-Hafiz Ibnu Hajar said, "Until he reached the age of ninety-four years and he died in the year 88 AH. And indeed before his death, the miracle was no longer visible." Some people say that he died in Himsh in Syria. He was the last friend to die in the land of Himsh, and he was also the last friend to die in the area of Sham/Syria, in the year 96 H. Among the hadiths he narrated was also about longevity, "The best person is the one who lives long." and his charity work is also good." And in his life, he has also made efforts to be able to fulfill the meaning of the hadith he narrated. Indeed, Islam is spread, defended and glorified by talented and moral youth like him. He died during the reign of Sulaiman bin Abdul Malik, in the year 88 H or 96 AD.

Hadith Narrated by Abdullah ibn Busra RA [ The Important of Zikir]

Alhamdulillah, all praise is for Him alone, blessings and peace be upon our great leader Rasulullahﷺ his family, his companions, and all who follow in his footsteps until the Day of Judgment.

This time, in the Tazkirah Harian Ramadhan column, we focus on dhikr.

From Abdullah bin Busr RA, he said:

Meaning: "A man came to Rasulullahﷺ  and said: O Messenger of Allah, indeed the Islamic law is too much for me, so (teach me) one chapter (of knowledge) that I will stick to it?" Rasulullahﷺ replied: Your tongue should continue to remember Allah 'Azza wa Jalla.

Narrated by Ahmad (4/188) (190) with this wording, Ibn Majah (3793), al-Tirmizi (3375), Ibn Hibban (814). Al-Tirmizi said hasan gharib. All of them are taken from the narration of Amr bin Qais al-Kindi from Abdullah bin Busرضي الله عنهr .

The specialty of Hadith;

This hadith shows the glory of Rasulullahﷺ who celebrated the affairs of the companions who were unable to perform all types of worship (circumcision worship). So the friends were given the facility to continuously remember Allah.

Some scholars said: "This hadith shows the advantage of continuing to remember God."

Hadyu al-Nabawi and Istifadah Hadith;

First: Allah's verses that mention remembrance. The words of Allah SWT:

'Meaning: O people who believe, (to be grateful to God) remember and say the name of God with as much memory and mention as possible; And glorify Him in the morning and in the evening. He is the one who gives you mercy - and His angels also (pray for you) - to bring you out of darkness (disbelief and immorality) to bright light (faith from obedience); and is He always abundant His mercy to those who believe (in this world and in the hereafter). The greeting that God will give them when meeting Him is the greeting "Salam" (goodbye); and He has prepared for them a glorious reward.”

Surah al-Ahzab (41-44)

Allah SWT said:

It means: "Truly I am God; there is no god but Me; therefore, worship Me, and establish a prayer to remember Me."

Surah Taha (14)

Allahﷻ said:

Meaning: "(That is) those who believe and calm their hearts with zikrullah". Know with that "zikrullah", the human heart is calm."

Surah al-Ra'd (28)

Second: Indeed, remembering Allahﷻ is an act of worship that keeps us away from neglecting Him, and brings us closer to Him. Islam emphasizes the importance of remembrance of Allahﷻ

Third: A reasonable Muslim will definitely prioritize all noble deeds in his life and do good deeds with them, which is the remembrance of Allahﷻ. This coincides with the authentic hadith from Abi Darda' RA, he said, that Rasulullahﷺ  said:

Meaning: "Do you want me to inform you of the best practice, more pure in the eyes of your king, will raise your rank, and is better than you spending gold and silver, it is better for you if you face your enemy and cut his throat or they cut your throat? They (friends) answered: "Yes." Rasulullahﷺ  said: "Remember Allah SWT."

Narrated by al-Tirmizi (3299) and Ahmad (20713)

Fourth: Imam Ibn Qayyim in his book al-Wabil al-Sayyib mentions the advantages of remembrance:

  • Banish the devil.
  • Bringing God's pleasure.
  • Removes the anxiety of a sad heart.
  • The heart becomes calm and happy.
  • Strengthens the heart and body.
  • Light up the heart and face.
  • Sustenance comes.
  • People who chant will feel the sweetness of faith and tranquility.
  • The arrival of the love of al-Rahman which is the soul of Islam.
  • Getting close to God until he is included in the group of people who reach the level of ihsan, which is worshiping God as if seeing Him.
  • The coming of inabah, that is, returning to Allah SWT. The more a person returns to God with a lot of remembrance of Him, then his heart will also return to God in every situation.
  • A person will get closer to Allah according to the rate of his remembrance of Allah SWT. The more he neglects to recite, then he will also be further away from Him.
  • Knowledge of God (knowing God) will increase more and more. The more dhikr, the more one's knowledge of God increases.
  • Bringing God's pleasure.
  • Removes the anxiety of a sad heart.
  • The heart becomes calm and happy.
  • Strengthens the heart and body.

  • Knowledge of God (knowing God) will increase more and more. The more dhikr, the more one's knowledge of God increases.
  • The fear of Rabb 'Azza wa Jalla came and humiliated oneself more and more before Him. Whereas the person who is negligent in dhikr, will lose his fear of Allah more and more.
  • Will achieve what Allah SWT says. The words of Allah SWT
Meaning: "Then remember Me, then I will remember you."
Surah al-Baqarah (152)

This can be hidden. Ibn Qayyim pernah mendengar daripada gurunya, Ibn Taimiyyah berkata:
Dhikr is to the heart as water is to fish, so what will be the condition of the fish when it leaves the water?

Meaning: "Zikr on the heart is like water that fish need. See what will happen if the fish is separated from the water?"a: "Zikr on the heart is like water that fish need. See what will happen if the fish is separated from the water water?"on the heart is like water that fish need. See what will happen if the fish is separated from the water?”

Meaning: "And do not be like those who forget God, then God makes them forget themselves. Those are the wicked people.”

Surah al-Hasyr (19)
.
  1. Zikr is a light for its owner in the world, in the grave, and on the day of resurrection.
  2. Zikr is ra'su al-Umur (mother of all things). Anyone who is allowed to recite zikr, then he will obtain various benefits. Whoever escapes and releases from this dhikr, then he escapes from various good deeds.
  3. Remembrance will warn the heart that is sleeping soundly. The heart will wake up again with chanting.
  4. People who remember will get closer to God and be with Him. Togetherness here is a special togetherness, not just that God is together to know or cover.
  5. May Allah SWT make us among the people of remembrance. Again in this month of Ramadhan al-Mubarak and in the last 10 days of Ramadhan let us wet our tongues with zikrullah. Amen.
