Abu Talhah al-Anshari is Zaid bin Sahl bin al-Aswad bin Haram

Abu Talhah al-Anshari is Zaid bin Sahl bin al-Aswad bin Haram رضي الله عنه bin Amr bin Malik bin an-Najjar al-Anshari al-Khazraji. But he is more famous for his Kun-yah Abu Talhah. His mother was Ubadah bint Malik bin Adi bin Zaid. Abu Talhah was one of the companions who participated in the Battle of Badr.

He is Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه. He is a companion of Rasulullah and his nephew. Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه was one of the leaders of the Badr War and one of the twelve leaders in the events of the night of Aqabah. Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه is known as the friend who started fasting consecutively after Rasulullah. besides others, Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه is among the companions who do not think that swallowing rainwater for those who are fasting invalidates the fast, he said, "Because it does not include food and drink."

Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه is also the person who said in the words of Rasulullah, "Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه's voice is the best among the group of troops." Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه has many privileges. In a narration from Thabit, from Anasرضي الله عنه, he said: When Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه proposed to Umm Sulaim, Umm Sulaim said, "I really like you, and no one like you is rejected, but you are an infidel. But when you embrace Islam, then that can have my food and I will never ask for anything else from you." Abu Talhah then embraced Islam and married Umm Sulaim

Tsabit said, "We have never heard of a nobler dowry than Umm Sulaim's. When Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه 's son died, Umm Sulalm رضي الله عنه kept mentioning it, until Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه asked her. When Umm Sulalm told her about her son, she said, "Indeed, Allah did not lend it to you, and Allah has taken it back. For life's sake, ease your son's departure!"

Abu Talhahnرضي الله عنه is one of the famous brave companions. Archers in the times of Jahiliyyah and Islam. He was one of the twelve people who participated in Baiat Aqobah. Participated in the Battle of Badr and subsequent wars. And he is one of the figures of Ansar.

About his bravery, Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه said, "During the Battle of Hunain,  Rasulullah, said;

"'Whoever succeeds in killing the enemy, his belongings are his.' At that time Abu Talhah managed to kill 20 enemies. And the belongings of those people will be his."

Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه was a generous person in various conditions. Both when it's hard and when it's easy. Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه owns date and grape orchards. There is no garden in Madinah that is more spacious, has more trees, and better quality of fruit and water, than the garden of Abu Talhah

When Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه was praying in his garden, he saw a green bird with a red beak. Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه was so amazed that he lost his concentration because of the sight. Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه forgot while doing three or four rakaats. After prayer, he met  RasulullahAbu Talhah رضي الله عنه told about the incident in his garden and the bird. then said, "O Rasulullah, I testify that I offer this garden as alms in the way of God. Use the garden according to what God and Rasulullah love."

In the Sahihain of Anas bin Malik , when the words of Allah were revealed.

"You will never reach (perfect) virtue before you spend a portion of the property you love."
[Quran Ali Imran: 92]

Abu Talhahرضي الله عنه said to Rasulullah, "Indeed, my treasure that I love the most is Baihara (the name of the garden). And offer it as alms. I hope for his goodness and savings (in the afterlife).”
Rasulullah and grant him peace said,

"Wow.. wow.. This is really a profitable property."

Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه filled the days of his life with regular fasting.

With Rasulullah

In the Narration of al-Bukhari from Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Talhahرضي الله عنه. Abdullah heard Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه narrate, "Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه said to Umm Sulaim, 'I heard the Prophet's voice so soft. I know he is hungry. Do you have something? His wife said, 'Yes'. Then I took out some wheat. And take a cover from the cloth to cover the bread. And slipped part of it under my hand. My husband told me to see Rasulullah. I went too. It turned out that Rasulullah was in the mosque with the people. I stood in front of them. Rasulullah said to me, 'Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه who sent you here'? 'Yes', I answered. He said again, 'Bringing food'? 'Yes', I answered again.

Rasulullah said to those who were with him, 'Stand up'. They all went with me. When I got home, I told Abu Talhah what happened. Rasulullah came with many people, even though we did not have enough food for them'. Umm, Sulaim رضي الله عنه said, 'Allah and  Rasulullahﷺ know best'.

Abu Talhah also welcomed the arrival of RasulullahRasulullah said, 'Umm Sulaim رضي الله عنه, what do you have'? I brought bread. Then quad on. Then Rasulullah said about the food whatever Allah wanted him to say. Then he ordered, 'Allow 10 people (to eat)'. They were also given permission. Then they ate until they were full and left the house. He said again, 'Allow 10 more people'. Then they ate until they were full and left the house. He said again, 'Allow 10 more people'. Then they ate until they were full and left the house. He said again, 'Allow 10 more people'. Everyone ate until they were full. Their total is 80 people.

Another incident that tells about Rasulullah's togetherness with Abu Talhah is a hadith narrated by Imam Muslims. From Ibnu Sirin's line from Anas bin Malik That is when Rasulullah shaved his hair (in Hajj) in Mina. Rasulullah divided it into two parts. The haircut that he shared with his friends. Some get one hair. Some have two strands of hair. While the left part, he handed over to Abu Talhahرضي الله عنه, .

Another event was during the Uhud War. In the Battle of Uhud, the Muslim ranks were scattered. Their defense was shattered. Until Rasulullah's position was so open. The polytheists immediately surrounded Rasulullah from all sides. Until his front teeth broke. Rasulullah forehead was bleeding. Rasulullah lips hurt. Until the blood runs down his face.

In that condition, Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه, immediately stood in front of Rasulullah. Be his fortress. Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه, shot his arrows at the polytheists one by one. He always did that, until three of his bows broke. And he succeeded in killing many polytheists.

Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه, said, "Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه, was in front of Rasulullah in the war. While saying;

Then he shot his arrows. Rasulullahﷺ said, "Truly the voice of Abu Talhah in a team is better than 100 people."

Narrated by Humaid from Anas, he said, "Abu Talhah رضي الله عنهwas in front of Rasulullah. At that moment, Rasulullah raised his head from behind Abu Talhah to see the arrow shot. Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه,  raised his chest so that his position was higher to protect Rasulullah. He said, 'My neck is a shield for your neck, Rasulullah'."

Patience Over Disaster

Umm Sulaim رضي الله عنهsaid, "Don't tell Abu Talhah رضي الله عنهabout this news. I was the only one who told him."

A dead child is certainly not an easy problem. Aware of that, Umm Sulaim رضي الله عنهmade a plan. Temporarily diverting the husband's attention from his sick child. When the husband arrived home, he immediately feasted on food. When her husband eats, she adorns herself with perfume. Trying to attract the attention of the husband. Until the two are connected. After her husband calmed down, she gave an introduction before the sad news was delivered. It gives an example.

An approach that shows his intelligence, "O Abu Talhah, indeed So-and-so went out to borrow something from So-and-so's family. Then the lender sends someone to ask for the item. They even refused to return it." Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه, said, "They cannot do that. loaned goods must be returned to the owner." Umm Sulaim responded, "Truly your son is a loan from God. And God has taken it.” Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه, said the sentence istirjah'. The Prophet was informed about it. He prayed, "May God bless both of them."

From Tsabit said, "We have never heard of a nobler dowry than Umm Sulaim's. When Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه 's son died, Umm Sulalm kept mentioning it, until Zaid bin Sahal AI Aswadadalahرضي الله عنه asked her. When Umm Sulalm told her about her son, she said, "Indeed, Allah did not lend it to you, and Allah has taken it back. For life's sake, ease your son's departure!"

Selected Hadiths Narrated by Abu Talhah

1. From Abdullah bin Abu Talhah, from Abu Talhah:
Beliau berkata, ‘Sungguh malaikat datang padaku. Ia berkata, ‘Wahai Muhammad, sesungguhnya Rabmu berfirman, ‘Tidakkah kau ridha untuk setiap orang yang bershalawat padamu kebalas dengan sepuluh kali shalawat dariku untuknya. Dan tidaklah seseorang mengucapkan salam kepadamu melainkan aku akan mengucapkan sepuluh kali salam untuknya’.”
[Al-Ahkan Ash-Shugra, 893].

This hadith explains the greatness of the position of Rasulullah and his people in the eyes of God. He gave the people of Rasulullah multiple rewards when they do a deed.

For those who bless and greet the Messenger of Allah, Allah will give praise and care for them. And the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was pleased and happy with this. And this also shows the priority of blessings and greetings to the Prophet.

2. From Ubaidullah bin Abdullah

From Ubaidullah bin Abdullah, once visited Abu Talhah al-Anshari. He saw that there was Sahl bin Hunaif in the house. Then Abu Talhah ordered someone to pull the leather carpet that was under it. Sahl asked him, "Why should it be pulled"? Abu Talhah replied, "Because there is a picture of living creatures. While the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, has said in this matter as you know." Sahl said, "Didn't he say 'except for the picture on the cloth'? Abu Talhah replied, "True, but I do this because it makes my heart more comfortable."
[HR. An-Nasai, 5254].

3. From Abu Talhah Zaid bin Sahal

On the authority of Abi Talha Zaid bin Sahl -may God be pleased with him- he said: Let's sit down and talk about it, then Rasulullahﷺ and stood up to us, and he said: "What is wrong with you and the assembly of the Prophets?
" اجتنبوا مجالس الصُّعُدَاتِ». فقُلنا: إنما قَعَدْنَا لغير ما باس, قَعَدْنَا نتذَاكَر, ونتحدش. He said: «إما لا فائُّوا حقَهَا: غَضُّ البَصَر, وردُّ السلام, وحُسْن كلام».

From Abu Ṭalhah Zaid bin Sahal - رضي الله عنه -, he said, "We were sitting in the courtyard talking. Then Rasulullah- came. He approached us. He said, "Why are you sitting on the street? Avoid congregating in the streets!” We said, "We're just sitting around. We sat down to exchange ideas and talk.” He said, "If you cannot leave him, then give him the right of way: lower your gaze, answer greetings, and speak well."
[HR. Muslims].

This hadith explains the manners of those who sit in the places of passers-by. They must exercise the right of way. What is the right of way? The right of way is to look down, answer greetings, and speak well.

Because where people pass by or hang out, someone will see women passing by. So you have to look down. Someone passed by and said hello. They should answer it. And sometimes the chat goes everywhere. Not even controlled. Therefore, Rasulullah ordered that people who hang out to chat should pay attention to their speech. Do not slander, speak dirty, etc. say good words

4. From Az-Zuhri, from Abdullah bin Abdullah.
He heard Ibn Abbas,رضي الله عنه, say, "I heard Abu Talhah say, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah say,

"An angel will not enter a house in which there are dogs and pictures of living creatures."
[HR. at-Tirmidhi in his Sunan, No: 2804].

Abu Talhah's will

During the reign of Uthman bin Affan رضي الله عنه,, the Muslims prepared the Navy. Abu Talhah also ordered a place to go. Then his son said,

May God have mercy on you, my father, I have become a great sheik, and I have traveled with Rasulullah, Saiyidina Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه,, and Saiyidina Omarرضي الله عنه,, so please go to rest, and leave us to travel to you.

"May God have mercy on you, Father. Now you are very old. You have fought with Rasulullah- Saiyidina Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه,, and Saiyidina Omarرضي الله عنه. If you want to rest. And you let us go instead of you."

Abu Talhah رضي الله عنه,  quotes God's words as an answer,

"Leave whether you feel light or heavy."
[Quran At-Taubah: 41]

We set out with old and young." He refused to participate.
