Gazalah Al-Haruriah

Gazalah Al-Haruriah,

Ghazalah is a brave woman against the tyrannical Umayyad leaders

She is the wife of Syabib bin Yazid Al-Haruri who is known as a brave and agile woman. She took part in several battles like other Islamic fighters.

A popular story about her is often heard, namely that Hajjaj ran away because he was unable to face her in a battle.

Ghazalah is a brave woman against the tyrannical Umayyad leaders. a woman who defeated one of the most powerful and brutal men in history. The woman was named Ghazalah from the Shaibani Tribe. She is one of the women who is known to be brave and have the ability to ride a horse.

Ghazalah is from Mosul in Iraq. Together with her husband, she was involved in several battles on the battlefield and against a tyrannical leader named Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Tsaqafi.

Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Tsaqafi 661 M/ 40 H-714 M/ 95 H) was the ruler, politician, and defense minister of the Umayyad caliphate. He is a controversial and bizarre figure in the early history of Muslims.

He was known as an intelligent yet harsh and cruel ruler. In the record, he once tried to demolish the Kaaba and had killed an innumerable number.

Ghazala also fought extraordinarily until he managed to defeat Al-Hajjaj bin Yusuf Al-Thaqafi directly in front of her and her husband. Hajjaj when defeated by Ghazala, immediately fled.

Ghazala himself had sworn to enter the mosque of Kufah and then prayed two rak'ahs there, reciting the letter of Al-Baqarah and the letter of Ali Imran. Hajjaj's defeat at that time is described in a verse that reads:

"أسدٌ علَيّ وفي الحروبِ نعامةٌ" "A lion is above me, and there are ostriches fighting?". But Hajjaj can be said, like an ostrich in front of a deer, after being defeated by a woman named Ghazala.

For two years, the war continued. Ghazalah and her husband continued to fight against Hajjaj. At that time they defeated more than 20 soldiers. But then the leader of Hajjaj sent a large army. Until finally Ghazala was killed. The soldier who defeated him then immediately took Ghazala's head to be brought before Hajjaj.

However, Ghazalah's husband managed to recapture the head and buried Ghazalah near Kufa. Thus, Ghazala's death on the battlefield marked the beginning of the end of the two-year war.
