Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه

One of the companions included from Khilafah Rasyidin is Saiyidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq رضي الله عنه. It is known that Saiyidina Abu Bakar As Siddiq رضي الله عنه. had a slave whom he freed named Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه.

The truth is that the religion of Islam has raised the status of a person Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه. From a slave, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was honored with his degree and became a hafiz or someone who memorized the Qur'an.

One of the lucky people who joined Islam was Tufayl bin Abdullah's رضي الله عنهblack slave, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه. Tufayl was Saidatuna Aisha’s رضي الله عنهhalf-brother. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه became a Muslim when Rasulullah was in Arqam's house.

Until the time when Rasulullah and Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه were migrating to Madinah and hid in Tsur Cave for three days to avoid the pursuit of the Quraysh. During those three days, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه herded the goats as usual with other shepherds.

But when he came home, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was late until the day started to get dark. He then took the goats to Gua Tsur, so that Rasulullah and Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه could drink their milk. In the morning, it turned out that Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was already in the pasture with other shepherds, so the Quraysh infidels did not at all suspect what he had done.

Likewise, as a Hafiz Al-Qur'an, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was chosen by Rasulullah to be one of the 70 companions sent to Bani Amir in Najd to prosecute them. However, this group of da'wah companions was betrayed and suffered the tragedy of the massacre in Bi'r Ma'unah.

At the moment the spear had pierced his body, in a state of incalculable pain, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه said, "By God, I have succeeded..."

Not long after, his body drooped and collapsed, but suddenly his body was lifted up into the sky. This incident was even witnessed directly by his killer, Jabbar bin Salma, and Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه's words about the miraculous event always echoed.

A few days later, he got an explanation that the "success" in question was heaven. On that basis, Jabbar bin Salma finally embraced Islam because of the unexpected event It really became an additional glory for Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه, because of his martyrdom which then brought guidance to others. However, in another narration, it is mentioned that the companion speared by Jabbar was Haram bin Milhan رضي الله عنه,

Wallahu A'lam Bishawab.

It was a period when the most terrifying form of ignorance and oppression prevailed, and torture and brutality were committed most terribly. At that time, helpless and weak people were enslaved; they were forced to work in jobs that even animals were not forced. It was the Era of Jahiliyya, when wealthy, noble, and cruel people shed blood and when frightening clouds dominated the sky.

True religion came to help people when they were hit by all kinds of misfortunes. The cloud of mercy dominated the sky and the sun of compassion rose. People ran to the light that this sun radiated. The majority of those who ran to that light consisted of the oppressed, despised, repressed, and weak people and the slaves. These poor people took refuge in the compassion of Islam. They saw that they were also human beings and that they also had some rights.

The polytheists who heard that Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه, became a Muslim found another victim for themselves. The increase in the number of those who gathered around  Rasulullah infuriated them. At that time, Saidina Bilal رضي الله عنه also believed. Saidina Bilal رضي الله عنه faced a different kind of torture and infliction every day. The polytheists tortured him together with Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه.

One day, they tied a rope around Saidina Bilal رضي الله عنه and Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه and gave the rope to some naughty children. They were dragged into the streets of Makkah. The polytheists inflicted all kinds of torture upon them. However, the torture of the furious polytheists did not affect these lovers of Rasulullahat all; the more the severity of the torture increased, the more their patience and perseverance increased.

Finally, Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه came to the rescue of these two oppressed people. Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه freed them by paying the money necessary for their freedom to their owners. Thus, they virtually received the first reward of their patience in the world; they attained freedom in both the world and the hereafter.

Abu Quhafah could not understand why his son, Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه, freed Muslim slaves by paying money. One day, he called his son and said, "O my Son! I see that you always buy weak slaves and free them. Would not it be better if you bought strong ones so that they would be your protectors and supporters?"

Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Sidique رضي الله عنه explained his lofty purpose to his father as follows:

"O Dad! I do not want to benefit from them by doing so; I want to attain the consent of Allah."

Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه took part in the Battle of Badr and Uhud. He fought heroically in those battles.

Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was from Ashab as-Suffa. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was one of the Companions who could beautifully read the Quran. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was also among the scribes of Rasulullah.

Another version of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه with regards to his martyrdom.

Four months after the Battle of Uhud, Abu Bara, the leader of the tribe of Sons of Amir living in the region of Najd, came to Rasulullah and asked him to send a few Companions to teach his people about Islam. Abu Bara promised Rasulullah that he would protect the Companions sent to him; thereupon, Rasulullah sent a group of 40, or according to another narration 70, people from Ashab as-Suffa {Ahlul Suffah) as a delegation of guidance. Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was a member of this delegation.

When the delegation arrived at the region of Bi'r Mauna (Mauna Well), they stopped over. Abu Bara's nephew, Amir bin Tufayl, did not obey his paternal uncle; and he gathered men from the tribes around and attacked the Companions who were resting there. They martyred 39 Companions.

When the polytheist called Jabbar bin Sulma stuck his sword in Amir bin Fuhayra رضي الله عنه, he heard the phrase "By Allah, I have gained." When Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه became a martyr, he ascended to the sky. When Jabbar heard this phrase and saw the rise of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه to the sky, he asked Ah. Dahhak رضي الله عنه about it. Dahhak رضي الله عنه told him that Amir attained Paradise. When Jabbar saw this, he became a Muslim. Thus, the martyrdom of one person became a means of belief for another person.

The author of the massacre, Amir bin Tufayl, took Amir bin Umayya رضي الله عنه, who survived the massacre and wanted to learn the identities of the martyrs. Amir bin Umayya رضي الله عنه mentioned the names of the martyrs one by one; he said he could not see Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه. Amir bin Tufayl pointed to Jabbar and said, "Shall I inform you about him? That guy stuck his spear into him. After he pulled his spear out, the man rose up to the sky and disappeared. By Allah, I have not seen him again."

When Rasulullah was informed about the state of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه, he said, "The angels raised his body to the sky and buried him."  At that time, Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was 40 years old.

Story 1

'Urwah رضي الله عنه narrates that when the people who went to Bir Ma'unah were killed and Amr bin Umayyah al-Dhamri was captured, Amir bin Thufail asked Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه  , "Who is this person?" while pointing to one of the dead. Amr bin Umayyah replied, "This is Amir bin Fujairah رضي الله عنه  ." Amir bin Thufail said, "After he was killed, I saw him lifted up until he was between the heavens and the earth. Then he was placed back on the earth."

The news about them reached Rasulullah, and he announced their death to his companions. Rasulullah  said, "Your friends have fallen and they have prayed to God, 'Our Lord, tell our brothers that we are pleased with You and You are pleased with us.' So the Messenger of God. tell your friends what happened.

(Narrated by Bukhari from the line of Hisham bin `Urwah)

Story 2

Another story from Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه. narrates that Rasulullah sent an army. Not long after, Rasulullah,, praised God, and said, "Your brothers have faced the polytheists and they fell until not even a scar was left. They prayed, ``O God, tell the people of the canoes that we are pleased with -You and You are pleased with us.' I am their messenger to convey this to you. They are pleased and God is pleased with them." (Narrative of Al-Baihaqi)

Story 3

Mundzir bin Amr رضي الله عنه tells the story of the Prophet's messengers who used to teach the Qur'an and Sunnah to their people. In that story, he mentioned that Amir bin Thufail asked Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه, "Do you know your companions?" Amr bin Umayyahرضي الله عنه  replied, "Yes." Then Amir bin Thufail went around the bodies of the fallen martyrs and asked Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه their lineage, then asked, "Did you lose one of them?" Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه replied, 'I am looking for a slave of Saiyidina Abu Bakr As Siddique رضي الله عنه  named Amir bin Fuhairahرضي الله عنه ." Amir bin Thufail asked again, "How is his behavior?" Amr bin Umayyah رضي الله عنه replied, "He is the best person among us."

Amir bin Thufail said, "I will tell you the situation of Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنهAmir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه was pierced by a spear on the battlefield, then the spear came off by itself. Then Amir bin Fuhairah رضي الله عنه body was lifted up to the sky, until, by God, I could not see him again. The one who killed him was a man- a man from the tribe of Kilab named Jabbar bin Salma. When Jabbar managed to stab him, he heard Amir bin Fuhairah say, ``By God, I won.''

Then Mundzir met Dhahhak bin Sufyan al-Kilabi and told the story of Amir bin Fuhairah. Mundzir converted to Islam after learning the story of Amir bin Fuhairah whose funeral was lifted up to heaven and there is no other person like that. Dhahhak wrote a hadith attributed to the Prophet. which stated that the angels buried the body of Amir bin Fahirah and placed him in the highest heaven. (Reported by Al Waqidi on the authority of Mash'ab bin Thabit on the authority of Abdul Aswad on the authority of `Urwah)

According to the narration of Al-Baihaqi, the body of Amir bin Fuhairah may have been lifted to the sky, placed back on the earth, and then disappeared, in line with the narration of Bukhari from the `Urwah line which states that the body of Amir bin Fuhairah was lifted to the sky, then placed back on the earth, and until currently not found. People say that angels have buried him.

Al-Baihaqi also narrated from `Urwah who was connected with `Aishah with the redaction, "After the battle, I saw the body of Amir bin Fuhairah lifted up, between the sky and the earth, until I could not see him anymore." The narration does not say that his body was brought back to earth, and many narrations state that Amir bin Fuhairah was buried in the sky.

Ibnu Sa'ad also narrated from Waqidi from Muhammad bin 'Abdullah from Al-Zuhri, from `Urwah, from Aisyah r.a. that Amir bin Fuhairah ascended to heaven, and his remains were not found. People said that the angels had buried him in the sky.

'Amr bin `Ash

In the book Tuhfat al-Ahbab fi Mazarat Misra, Al-Sakhawy says that there was a man who visited the tomb of Amr bin Ash. At the cemetery, the pilgrim saw a man sitting down, so he asked the man about Amr bin Ash's grave. The seated man gestured with his feet and did not move from his place. Amr bin Ash died in Egypt on the night of 'Idul Fitri in the year 43 H.
