When
the Muslims were losing in Uhud, somebody started the false news that
Nabi j had been killed. You can imagine the Sahaabah's grief and
sadness over this terrible news. Quite naturally, this caused most of
them to lose heart and to give up.Anas bin Nadhr happened to see Umar
RAand Talhah RA. with a group of Muslims in a state of total panic.
He said to them: "Why am I seeing you all so confused?
They
replied: "Nabi SAW is killed!”
Anas
exclaimed: "Then who will like to live after him?
Come,
let us go forward with our swords and join our dear Nabi SAW."
No
sooner did he say these words than he attacked the enemy and fought
till he was killed. In fact, Anashad such an extreme love for Nabi
SAW that he did not consider this life worth living without him.
My
uncle Anas bin An-Nadr RA was absent from the Battle of Badr. He
said, "O Allah's Apostle! I was absent from the first battle you
fought against the pagans. (By Allah) if Allah gives me a chance to
fight the pagans, no doubt. Allah will see how (bravely) I will
fight." On the day of Uhud when the Muslims turned their backs
and fled, he said, "O Allah! I apologize to You for what these
(i.e. his companions) have done, and I denounce what these (i.e. the
pagans) have done."
Then
he advanced and Sad bin Muadh RA met him. He said "O Sad bin
Muadh ! By the Lord of An-Nadr, Paradise! I am smelling its aroma
coming from before (the mountain of) Uhud," Later on Sad RA
said, "O Allah's Apostle! I cannot achieve or do what he (i.e.
Anas bin An-Nadr RA) did. We found more than eighty wounds by swords
and arrows on his body. We found him dead and his body was mutilated
so badly that none except his sister could recognize him by his
fingers." We used to think that the following Verse was revealed
concerning him and other men of his sort: "Among the believers
are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah.........."
(33.23)
His
sister Ar-Rubbaya' broke a front tooth of a woman and Allah's Apostle
ordered for retaliation. On that Anas (bin An-Nadr) RA said, "O
Allah's Apostle! By Him Who has sent you with the Truth, my sister's
tooth shall not be broken." Then the opponents of Anas's sister
accepted the compensation and gave up the claim of retaliation. So
Allah's Apostle said, "There are some people amongst Allah's
slaves whose oaths are fulfilled by Allah when they take them."
Anas
bin An-Nadr bin Dumadam Al-Ansaari Al-Najaari Al-Khazraji was the
paternal uncle of Anas bin Maalik RA. He embraced Islam after
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam reached Madinah. Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam praised him, for it has reached us in a
tradition that his sister broke the front tooth of a female slave.
Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam ordered the punishment. Anas RA said:
"No, by Allah, don't break her tooth, O Messenger of Allah".
The people agreed and the discord was settled by the payment of
monetary compensation (Diyah Al-Kesraa) for the breakage. Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said: "Truly who worships Allah, who
if he swears (an oath) by Allah, He accepts".
Absent from the Battle of Badr, Anas RA said: "O Messenger of Allah, I was absent from the first battle in which polytheists were killed, By Allah, for truly Allah is my witness, the dead polytheists Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam what Allah did”. On the day of the Battle of Uhud, when the Muslims were exposed,
Anas
RA said: "O Lord, truly I apologise to you for what they did
(meaning the Muslims) and I discharge to you for what came of it by
them (meaning the polytheists)". He received Sa'ad bin Mu'aadth
and said: "O Sa'ad, this is Paradise and the Lord of Human
kind;indeed I found a good odour before Uhud".
He was martyred, (Allah be pleased with him), and there were found (on him) eighty and some, of what was between blows by sword, stabs by spear, or strikes by arrow; and what is similar to them, from the mutilation of him by the polytheists, as revenge for what had been done to them, until he was unrecognizable by anyone except his sister, Al-Rubayya, who knew him from his fingertips. He was of those whom the words of Allah, the Almighty, were revealed: {among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah ...},

(The
Clans, Chapter 33, p.o. Verse 23).
Anas
Bin An-Nadr RA
Anas
bin An-Nadr RA was the uncle of Anas bin Malik RA. Anas bin Malik RA
narrates: “My uncle Anas bin An-Nadr RA was absent from the Battle
of Badr. He said, ‘O Rasulullah! SAW I was absent from the first
battle you fought against the Kuffaar; (By Allah) if Allah gives me a
chance to fight the Kuffaar, no doubt, Allah SWT will see how
(bravely) I will fight.’”The cave in Uhud where Prophet SAW took shelter. |
During the battle I noticed some Muhajireen and Ansar who were very distraught. Upon my query they told me that Rasulullah SAW had been shahid. Anas bin An-Nadr RA then said “if truly Rasulullah SAW has become Shahid, then what is life without him? Come, let us go into battle to join Rasulullah SAW in Martyrdom.”
He
moved ahead from there and happened to meet Sa’d bin Muaz RA , who
said, “‘O Anas! I am with you’. Then,he RA penetrated into the
files of the Kuffaar waving his sword he exclaimed: I am feeling
fragrance of the Paradise. I swear by the Lord of An-Nadr! I am
feeling the fragrance of Paradise from the side of Mount Uhud.”
Anas
ibn Nadr RA engaged himself in fighting against the enemies until he
became Shahid. Anas bin Malik RA says, “We found more than eighty
wounds by swords and arrows on his body.” Anas bin An-Nadr RA body
was mutilated so badly that none except his sister could recognise
him by his fingers.
Anas
bin Malik RA states, “We used to think that the following Verse was
revealed concerning him and other men of his sort: ‘Among the
believers (a great number of) men proved true what covenant they made
with Allah SWT .......’”(Surah Al-Ahzab , Ayah 23) (Sahih
Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 61)
Revelation
of Surah Al Ahzab purportedly attribute to the sincerity of Anas Ibn
Nadhir RA.
Tafsir
surah Al Ahzaab - Part 4 - Jews Break All Treaties
By
Shaikh Abdullah Faisal

AYAH
22
And
when the believers saw AlAhzab (the Confederates), they said:
"This is what Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had
promised us, and Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had spoken
the truth, and it only added to their faith and to their
submissiveness (to Allah). (Al-Ahzab 33:22)
What
was the promise of Allah (swt) mentioned in the above Ayah?
Allah
promised them they will have difficulties and will be tested
According
to the scholars, the promise is found in 2:214
Or
think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came
to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe
poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and
those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the
Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near!
(Al-Baqarah 2:214)
Allah
(swt) also spoke about poverty in the above verse
Abu
Talhah (RA) narrated: We complained to Allah’s Messenger (SAW)
about our hunger and raising from our stomach (the garment) bared the
stone each of us had tied to it. He showed that he had two stones
(tied to his stomach.) [Sunan Tirmidhi (4/585) No. 2371, Bayhaqi in
‘Shu'ab al Emaan’ (13/54) No. 9943]
The
sahabah suffered poverty and Allah made a promise in 2:155-156
And
certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of
wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the
patient ones, etc.). (Al-Baqarah 2:155)
Who,
when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly! To Allah we belong
and truly, to Him we shall return." (Al-Baqarah 2:156)
If
you say "Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we
shall return."
When
you lose something, Allah will replace it with something better
AYAH
22
And
when the believers saw AlAhzab (the Confederates), they said:
"This is what Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had
promised us, and Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) had spoken
the truth, and it only added to their faith and to their
submissiveness (to Allah). (Al-Ahzab 33:22)
The
ulama used this Ayah to prove that our imaan increases and decreases
Those
who say that our imaan is static, have a wrong understanding
9:124
is the other evidence used by the ulama as evidence
And
whenever there comes down a Surah (chapter from the Qur'an), some of
them (hypocrites) say: "Which of you has had his Faith increased
by it?" As for those who believe, it has increased their Faith,
and they rejoice. (At-Tawbah 9:124)
Hanzala reported: We were in the company of Allah's Messenger (SAW) and he delivered to us a sermon and made a mention of Hell-Fire. Then I came to my house and began to laugh with my children and sport with my wife. (Hanzala) further reported: I went out and met Abu Bakr and made a mention of that to him. Thereupon he said: I have done the same as you have mentioned. So we went to see Allah's Messenger (SAW) and said to him: Allah's Messenger, Hanzala has become a hypocrite. And he (the Holy Prophet) said Show respite. And then I narrated to him the story, and Abu Bakr said: I have done the same as he has done. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Hanzala, there is a time for worldly affairs and a time for (worship and devotion), and if your state of mind is always the same as it is at the time of remembrance of Allah, the Angels would shake hands with you and would greet you on the path by saying: As-Salamu-Alaikum. [Sahih Muslim (4/2107) No. 2750]
The
above hadith is another example of how imaan is not static.
Imaan
goes up and down
AYAH
23
Among
the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah
[i.e. they have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting), and showed not
their backs to the disbelievers], of them some have fulfilled their
obligations (i.e. have been martyred), and some of them are still
waiting, but they have never changed [i.e.they never proved
treacherous to their covenant which they concluded with Allah] in the
least. (Al-Ahzab 33:23)
The
covenant Allah (swt) is speaking about is Jihad
And
they did not flee from the battlefield
Obligation
here means martyrdom
"they
have never changed" means they have not turned back on their
heels
Because
Jihad is a covenant, the following hadith reads:
It
has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger
of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: One who died but did not fight
in the way of Allah nor did he express any desire (or determination)
for Jihad died the death of a hypocrite. [Sahih Muslim, Book 20,
Hadith 4696]
Everyone
has a covenant with Allah to do jihad
Allah
spoke about turning away from the battlefield as breaking your
covenant
Abu
Hurayra reported that the Prophet (SAW), said, "Avoid the seven
fatal sins." They said, "Messenger of Allah, what are
they?" Abu Hurayra reported
that the Prophet (SAW), said, "Avoid the seven fatal sins."
They said, "Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He said,
"Associating with Allah, sorcery, killing a soul which Allah has
forbidden, except by legal right, consuming usury, consuming the
property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle and slandering
unthinking chaste believing women." [al-Bukhari (2766) and
Muslim (89)]
He
said, "Associating with Allah, sorcery, killing a soul which
Allah has forbidden, except by legal right, consuming usury,
consuming the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle and
slandering unthinking chaste believing women." [al-Bukhari
(2766) and Muslim (89)]
This
Ayah (23) was revealed for Anas Bin Nadr (ra)
Anas
didn't participate in the battle of Badr and was worried
Due
to this, he was desperate to participate in the battle of Uhud
The burial place of syuhada in Uhud. |
Narrated
By Anas: My uncle Anas bin An-Nadr was absent from the Battle of
Badr. He said, "O Allah's Apostle! I was absent from the first
battle you fought against the pagans. (By Allah) if Allah gives me a
chance to fight the pagans, no doubt. Allah will see how (bravely) I
will fight." On the day of Uhud when the Muslims turned their
backs and fled, he said, "O Allah! I apologize to You for what
these (i.e. his companions) have done, and I denounce what these
(i.e. the pagans) have done." Then he advanced and Sad bin Muadh
met him. He said "O Sad bin Muadh ! By the Lord of An-Nadr,
Paradise! I am smelling its aroma coming from before (the mountain
of) Uhud," Later on Sad said, "O Allah's Apostle! I cannot
achieve or do what he (i.e. Anas bin An-Nadr) did.
We found more than
eighty wounds by swords and arrows on his body. We found him dead and
his body was mutilated so badly that none except his sister could
recognize him by his fingers." We used to think that the
following Verse was revealed concerning him and other men of his
sort: "Among the believers are men who have been true to their
covenant with Allah..." (33.23) His sister Ar-Rubbaya' broke a
front tooth of a woman and Allah's Apostle ordered for retaliation.
On that Anas (bin An-Nadr) said, "O Allah's Apostle! By Him Who
has sent you with the Truth, my sister's tooth shall not be broken."
Then the opponents of Anas's sister accepted the compensation and
gave up the claim of retaliation. So Allah's Apostle said, "There
are some people amongst Allah's slaves whose oaths are fulfilled by
Allah when they take them." [Sahih Bukhari, (4/52) Hadith #061]
In
our midst today, there are people who are treacherous
They
say no Jihad without a Caliph
And
no Jihad without an Islamic State
Although
we now have a Caliph and an Islamic State, they still reject and deny
They
deny so much, soon they will deny Allah (swt) and the Rasool (saw)
Because
to deny is their modus operandi
They
deny because they don't want to sacrifice
They
want to enter paradise for free
Some
even say they are "non practising Muslims"
If
you don't practice, you are a kaafir
9:11
is the evidence
But
if they repent, perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat,
then they are your brethren in religion. (In this way) We explain the
Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)
in detail for a people who know. (At-Tawbah 9:11)
AYAH
24
That
Allah may reward the men of truth for their truth (i.e. for their
patience at the accomplishment of that which they covenanted with
Allah), and punish the hypocrites if He will or accept their
repentance by turning to them in Mercy. Verily, Allah is
OftForgiving, Most Merciful. (Al-Ahzab 33:24)
Allah
(swt) has ordained Jihad to test who is the real believer and who is
not
It
exposes the hypocrites
Qalb
- Heart means something that keeps changing
The
heart doesn't remain the same
Because
of this, Allah taught you the following dua to recite
"Our
Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have
guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower."
(Aali Imran 3:8)
Abu
Huraira narrated that the Prophet said, "On the Day of
Resurrection a group of companions will come to me, but will be
driven away from the Lake-Fount, and I will say, 'O Lord (those are)
my companions!' It will be said, 'You have no knowledge as to what
they innovated after you left; they turned apostate as renegades
(reverted from Islam)." [Sahih Bukhari (8/120) No. 6585]
Some
people met the rasul (saw), took shahadah, ate with him etc
But
their hearts changed after his passing away
They
went back to jahillyah and some followed the false prophets
And
fought and killed muslims
Allah
will not leave the believers in the state in which you are now, until
He distinguishes the wicked from the good. Nor will Allah disclose to
you the secrets of the Ghaib (unseen), but Allah chooses of His
Messengers whom He pleases. So believe in Allah and His Messengers.
And if you believe and fear Allah, then for you there is a great
reward. (Aali Imran 3:179)
And
surely, We shall try you till We test those who strive hard (for the
Cause of Allah) and the patient ones, and We shall test your facts
(i.e. the one who is a liar, and the one who is truthful). (Muhammad
47:31)
A
munafiq will always find an excuse
They
don’t accept the dawla
150
scholars condemn the dawla, but they are not sincere scholars
Allah
(swt) said they are donkeys and dogs
And
recite (O Muhammad SAW) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our
Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.),
but he threw them away, so Shaitan (Satan) followed him up, and he
became of those who went astray. (Al-A'raf 7:175)
And
had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith but he
clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire. So his
description is the description of a dog: if you drive him away, he
lolls his tongue out, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls his
tongue out. Such is the description of the people who reject Our Ayat
(proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So
relate the stories, perhaps they may reflect. (Al-A'raf 7:176)
The
likeness of those who were entrusted with the (obligation of the)
Taurat (Torah) (i.e. to obey its commandments and to practise its
legal laws), but who subsequently failed in those (obligations), is
as the likeness of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books (but
understands nothing from them). How bad is the example (or the
likeness) of people who deny the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses,
signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah. And Allah guides not the people
who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers, etc.).
(Al-Jumu'ah 62:5)
You
follow these wicked scholars because you worship personalities and
not Allah
Some
of these scholars you follow believe in democracy, promote gay sex
and marriages,
And
promote praying to Muhammad (saw) in the grave
Some
promote Darwinism
Rashid
Rida was the founder of the Saudi Salafi movement,
A
freemason and mentor of Albani
Albani
was the father or irjah for this century
He
believed if you insult Muhammad (saw) you are not a kaafir
He
(Albani) also believed if you dismantled the Shariah, you are not a
kaafir
AYAH
25
And
Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage, they gained no
advantage (booty, etc.). Allah sufficed for the believers in the
fighting (by sending against the disbelievers a severe wind and
troops of angels). And Allah is Ever All-Strong, All-Mighty.
(Al-Ahzab 33:25)
After
the battle, the Prophet (saw) said this is the last battle (the
battle of the ditch)
In
which they will be attacked
After
that they were the ones attacking the kuffaar and not the kuffaar
attacking them
Allah
used a severe wind against the kuffaar
However,
the wind was not strong enough to kill them
Because
the Prophet (saw) was sent as a mercy to mankind
Allah
could have killed them with a wind like He did to the people of Aad
And
We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW) not but as a mercy for the 'Alamin
(mankind, jinns and all that exists). (Al-Anbiya 21:107)
Allah
also said in 8:33 that He would not punish them while Muhammad (was)
was still in their midst
On
the day of Al-Ahzab (i.e. clans) the Prophet said, (After this
battle) we will go to attack them (i.e. the infidels) and they will
not come to attack us." Sahih Bukhari, Book 5 Volume 59 Hadith
435
And
Allah would not punish them while you (Muhammad SAW) are amongst
them, nor will He punish them while they seek (Allah's) Forgiveness.
(Al-Anfal 8:33)
Muhammad
(saw) was a shield for mankind while he was living in their midst
AYAH
26
And
those of the people of the Scripture who backed them (the
disbelievers) Allah brought them down from their forts and cast
terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and
a group (of them) you made captives. (Al-Ahzab 33:26)
When
the Prophet (saw) kicked out Banu Nadhir
They
nursed a grudge against the Prophet (saw)
The
leader of Bani Nadhir was called Huyay bin Akhtab
The
Prophet (saw) kicked him out because he tried to kill him
He
plotted in Khaibar
He
entered Madinah and convinced the leader the last Jewish tribe - Ka'b
Bin Asad
To
break their treaty with Muhammad
Initially
Ka'b Bin Asad told Huyay to go away
But
Huyay continued to pressure him and he broke his treaty with Muhammad
(saw)
Ka'b
Bin Asad first went to Abu Sufiyan to join the coalition
Like
today, Saudi joined the coalition because they don't want an Islamic
State
They
are living a playboy lifestyle
If
the dawla arrived in Saudi, they would have to share the wealth
People
live in Saudi for 30 years and cannot get citizenship
They
would have to share the oil wealth with the rest of the Muslims
So
when the Americans called for a crusade against the dawla,
They
quickly joined
Their
aim is to destroy the dawla
History
is repeating itself
All
the hypocrites and apostates have joined the coalition
And
wicked scholars too
This
is why we are doing the tafsir of Surah Ahzab
Because
we have lived to see history repeating itself
On
the authority of Thawban the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “All
the people of the world will soon summon one another to attack you as
people gather around a table when invited to part take of its meal”
Someone asked, ‘will that be because of our small numbers at that
time?’ He (the Prophet) replied: “No, you will be numerous at
that time but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by
a torrent, and Allah will take fear from the breast of your enemies
and cast “wahn” into your hearts”. Someone asked ‘What is
“wahn” O Messenger of Allah?’ He replied “Love for the world
and dislike of death.” [Sunan Abu Dawud (4/111) No. 4297, Musnad
Ahmad (2/359) No. 8698]
This
coalition you see today, the Prophet (saw) spoke about it in the
above hadith
They
have wahn in their hearts
The
people with wahn in their hearts are the ones who reject the dawla
And
those of the people of the Scripture who backed them (the
disbelievers) Allah brought them down from their forts and cast
terror into their hearts, (so that) a group (of them) you killed, and
a group (of them) you made captives. (Al-Ahzab 33:26)
The
Jewish tribe who broke their covenant is Banu Quraidha
Kuffaar
bully each other into following the footsteps of shaitan
Every
kaafir is a hypocrite and every hypocrite is a kaafir
Who
are the people the Prophet killed and who did he take as captives?
They
asked for Sa'd ibn Muadh (ra) to be the judge
Because
he was the chief of the Aws tribe
And
he was their ally in jahiliyyah
Sa'd
ibn Muadh said he will judge if his judgement would be carried out
Sa'ds
judgement was that
Their
fighting men should be killed
Their
women and children should be taken as captives
And
their wealth taken by the muslims
When
Sa'd passed the judgement
The
Prophet (saw) said Sa'd’s judgement agreed with Allah's judgement
Narrated
Abu Said Al-Khudri: Some people agreed to accept the verdict of Sad
bin Muadh so the Prophet sent for him (i.e. Sad bin Muadh). He came
riding a donkey, and when he approached the Mosque, the Prophet said,
"Get up for the best amongst you." or said, "Get up
for your chief." Then the Prophet said, "O Sad! These
people have agreed to accept your verdict." Sad said, "I
judge that their (Banu Qurayza's) warriors should be killed and their
children and women should be taken as captives." The Prophet
said, "You have given a judgment similar to Allah's Judgment."
[Sahih Bukhari (5/58) Hadith: 148]
It
is worthy of mentioning that Allah told you in the Quran that Jews
break all treaties
Is
it not (the case) that every time they make a covenant, some party
among them throw it aside? Nay! the truth is most of them believe
not. (Al-Baqarah 2:100)
It
is their nature to break treaties.
And
they say, "Our hearts are wrapped (i.e. do not hear or
understand Allah's Word)." Nay, Allah has cursed them for their
disbelief, so little is that which they believe. (Al-Baqarah 2:88)
They
lived in Madinah because they knew Muhammad (saw) was coming
Those
to whom We gave the Scripture (Jews and Christians) recognise him
(Muhammad or the Ka'bah at Makkah) as they recongise their sons. But
verily, a party of them conceal the truth while they know it - [i.e.
the qualities of Muhammad which are written in the Taurat (Torah) and
the Injeel (Gospel)]. (Al-Baqarah 2:146)
When
Muhammad came to Madinah, they recognised him - the Jews and
Christians
But
they rejected him in the name of racism
They
thought he would be a Jew but he was an Arab
Allah
said in 2:146 that they recognise him as a father recognises his son
The
Jews chose hellfire over paradise due to racism
That
is a complete racist
Is
it not (the case) that every time they make a covenant, some party
among them throw it aside? Nay! the truth is most of them believe
not. (Al-Baqarah 2:100)
All
three Jewish tribes broke their treaty with Muhammad (saw)
Narrated
By Ibn Umar: Bani An-Nadir and Bani Quraiza fought (against the
Prophet violating their peace treaty), so the Prophet exiled Bani
An-Nadir and allowed Bani Quraiza to remain at their places (in
Medina) taking nothing from them till they fought against the Prophet
again). He then killed their men and distributed their women,
children and property among the Muslims, but some of them came to the
Prophet and he granted them safety, and they embraced Islam. He
exiled all the Jews from Medina. They were the Jews of Bani Qainuqa',
the tribe of 'Abdullah bin Salam and the Jews of Bani Haritha and all
the other Jews of Medina. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol 5, Book 59, Hadith
#362]
